MSP-delivered BCDR

Datto SIRIS

Local backup meets cloud continuity.

The overview

An integrated backup and recovery product for MSPs, with local virtualization and recovery in the Datto Cloud.

Scope of this profile

SIRIS is an MSP-delivered continuity product. Appliance, Virtual SIRIS, and Imaged deployments can differ; the MSP contract determines operational responsibility.

Workload support

Provider-documented

Windows agent protection includes physical and virtual systems and Windows Server versions through 2025. Linux support depends on distribution, kernel, and restore method; its matrix distinguishes backup, virtualization, screenshot, export, and file-restore capabilities. [1] [2]

VMware agentless backup has separate compatibility and licensing requirements; free vSphere is not supported. [3]

Recovery locations

Provider-documented

Datto documents cloud backup regions in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Iceland. Secondary replication includes US to Utah, Canada to Montreal, and UK/Germany to Iceland. Secondary backup storage is not proof of a selectable failover-compute site. [4]

Cloud virtualization is temporary testing/recovery capacity. Recovery Launchpad initially allows up to 8 vCPU and 16 GB RAM per VM; larger allocations require support. Its documented default shutdown is 30 days, with continuation settings. [5]

Testing scope

Provider-documented

Screenshot Verification starts a backup without networking and checks OS bootability. It does not validate non-boot volumes or an entire business application. [6]

Application Verification checks selected application readiness. It is Windows-only and is not supported on Virtual SIRIS Hyper-V or offloaded Hyper-V screenshot verification. [7]

Cost details

Provider-documented

Datto advertises flat-fee SIRIS service without ad-hoc charges for DR testing, compute, or egress. No public end-customer dollar rate was verified on the reviewed product page. [8]
